DELFT UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY REPORT 09-02 Exploiting BiCGstab(l) strategies to induce dimension reduction

چکیده
IDR(s) [9] and BiCGstab(l) [5] are two of the most efficient short recurrence iterative methods for solving large nonsymmetric linear systems of equations. Which of the two is best depends on the specific problem class. In this paper we derive a new method, that we call IDRstab, that that combines the strengths of IDR(s) and BiCGstab(l). To derive IDRstab we extend the results that we reported on in [7] where we considered Bi-CGSTAB as an IDR method. We will analyse the structure of IDR in detail and introduce the new concept of the Sonneveld space. Through numerical experiments we will show that IDRstab can outperform both IDR(s) and BiCGstab(l).

متن کاملDELFT UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY REPORT 07-07 IDR(s): a family of simple and fast algorithms for solving large nonsymmetric linear systems
We present IDR(s), a new family of efficient, short-recurrence methods for large nonsymmetric systems of linear equations. The new methods are based on the Induced Dimension Reduction (IDR) method proposed by Sonneveld in 1980. While state-ofthe-art methods such as Bi-CGSTAB require at most 2N matrix-vector products to compute an exact solution in exact arithmetic, IDR(s) requires at most N + N...
متن کاملStudent Krylov Day 2015
Krylov subspace methods have been applied successfully to solve various problems in Numerical Linear Algebra. The Netherlands have been a pioneer country in the development of Krylov methods over the past years. Methods like the Conjugate Gradient Squared (CGS), Bi-Conjugate Gradient Stabilized (BiCGSTAB), Nested GMRES (GMRESR), and the Induced Dimension Reduction method (IDR) are examples of K...
متن کاملOptimal Non-adaptive Concession Strategies with Incomplete Information
When two parties conduct a negotiation, they must be willing to make concessions to achieve a mutually acceptable deal, or face the consequences of no agreement. Therefore, negotiators normally make larger concessions as the deadline is closing in. Many time-based concession strategies have already been proposed, but they are typically heuristic in nature, and therefore, it is still unclear wha...
